WORKING EFFECTIVELY WITH LIVESTOCK PRODUCERS

WELP Trainings are for technical services providers. From NGOs to Government Agencies, these five day courses hone in communications skills while incorporating farm tours and producer presentations.

What is WELP?

NatGLC hosts a five-day training course for all types of technical service providers. Watch this video to understand what to expect if you are attending an upcoming training or interested in hosting a class.

This training aims to enable students to assist livestock producers more effectively through improved communication skills and knowledge related to applied resource conservation on grazing lands and livestock operations.

Participation will increase students' understanding and knowledge of livestock operations and the economic impact of conservation-related decisions. The knowledge, skills, and abilities derived from this course will result in better communication and understanding of grazing lands, the nature of clients and their ranching enterprises, and applications as facilitated and addressed by Farm Bill programs.

Students will work directly with consultants of varied disciplines and livestock producers of different types and scales. Generational and personality differences between clients and students are discussed. Multiple scenarios are reviewed during the course, and solutions to challenging situations are presented. Participants engage in group-based planning exercises to develop a communication strategy and plan for different assigned clients.
