National Grazing Lands Coalition Launches Legacy Landscapes Program in Partnership with Nestlé Purina Petcare, AgriWebb, and Regrow

College Station, Texas, September 4, 2024 The National Grazing Lands Coalition (NatGLC), in partnership with Nestlé®  Purina PetCare Company, AgriWebb, and Regrow, is announcing the launch of the Legacy Landscapes Program, a groundbreaking initiative designed to support livestock producers in improved grazing practices that benefit the land and producers’ bottom-line. This collaborative program is launching in Texas, with the aim to move throughout the Great Plains in following years.

“This program marks a new era for NatGLC,” Chairman Rob Cook said. “We’re excited to join our supply chain partners and commend Nestlé® Purina for their commitment to this program. Building producer-focused programs like this is vital for demonstrating properly managed grazing lands provide a multitude of benefits to society. This program will also empower grazing land managers to continually improve their decision-making through access to more robust data about their operations, demonstrating the value that comes from their management above and beyond food and fiber.”

Leading technical assistance for Texas producers will be Dr. William (Bill) Fox, NatGLC’s Central Region Resource Manager. A Texas native, Fox has spent his career working with producers to help them improve their operations through rangeland management and ecosystem services.

Initially, the Legacy Landscapes Program will provide technical and financial assistance for up to 50 ranches in Texas. Participating producers will benefit from expert guidance in developing and reviewing grazing management plans and approaches, have access to AgriWebb's leading livestock management software to track and manage their livestock and grazing through its record-keeping, insights and reporting, and expertise in implementing new practices that improve the efficiency of their grazing livestock and simultaneously have a corresponding reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Regrow's industry leading GHG modeling will enable accurate emissions accounting and reporting that can be traced throughout the value chain. Those reductions (and their positive story) will stay within the beef industry through an inset credited to Nestlé Purina’s corporate sustainability goals, which utilizes beef in its supply chain. Participating producers will also receive financial incentives and payment for any inset credits generated.

Nestlé® Purina’s investment in the Program underscores their commitment not only to the environment, but also the producers who manage our nation’s grazing lands.

“We are proud to partner with National Grazing Lands Coalition, AgriWebb, and Regrow to support livestock producers and their dedication toward improving grazing lands as a critical component to creating a more resilient environment,” said Jack Scott, Vice President of Sustainable Sourcing, Nestlé®  Purina PetCare Company
